              The Children’s Retail Business is a very interesting and rewarding business.  It is a business chosen by lots of young mothers.  The advantage to having your own Children’s Boutique Store is that mothers can have their own business and also have a income producing job as well as being able to take their small children to work with them.

            Another advantage is that they can purchase their Children’s Boutique Quality Clothing at a price that is a fraction of the cost of the retail price that they are accustomed to paying. 

            There are hundreds of sources in the children’s clothing wholesale market and so many wonderful things to choose from for boys and girls alike. 

            One important thing to remember about purchasing for a Children’s Boutique Store is, never purchase too much of one children’s clothing line until you learn what sells in your territory.  Lots of regions are different in culture and also in climate and that can have a great effect on what your customers purchase.

            Another important factor is your customer.  You must focus, especially in the first few months in seeing the size of children’s clothing that your customers are looking for.  I had a store owner once tell me that all the babies in her city were wearing size 2T.  Find out if there are lots of sets of twins or maybe you may have a customer with triplets.  All of these factors can be important when you are doing your buying.

            Advertise, advertise, advertise!!  You cannot succeed in your Children’s Clothing Boutique unless you advertise.  My brother & I once opened a furniture store.  I was so amazed at the number of people who could drive by, right in front of my store and never even look our way.

            Location, location, location!!  Location is one of the single most important considerations.  Location outranks advertisement.  It you are in a location that is inconvenient or that the parking lot is difficult to get in and out of, THEY WON”T COME.

            Do lots of research before you attempt to open a Children’s Boutique Store.  Make sure that it is the right thing for you and that you are financially stable enough to undertake this project.  Lots of young mothers have gotten themselves into serious credit problems just by not being informed at the beginning.
